USB was already working for this board before I installed any extra drivers. It all went a lot smoother than I expected, but I understand the real challenge is X570 or B550.

Then installed random AMD drivers from canonkong for removing the alerts or warnings in Device Manager. Then once Windows 7 installed, I updated to latest Windows updates (2020) using Simplix. I plugged mouse and keyboard into USB2.0 internal front headers. I then installed on to SATA SSD… NVME wouldn’t work no matter what. I have an original Windows 7 DVD, and I used that with “Gigabyte Image Tool” and it injected SATA and USB drivers. I used a different method than talked about here, but it was the first thing I tried and it worked. I was able to get Windows 7 working on my Crosshair Hero VI. I’ve tried both GPT UEFI (non-csm) and MBR (BIOS or UEFI), disabled fastboot and enabled CSM in the BIOS. I used NTLite to add in the hotfixes and drivers, then made a bootable USB stick using Rufus. I’ve also tried inserting the “AMD_1.0.0.13_MOD_Win7” driver and after that, also tried the “AMD_1.0.5.3_USB_MOD_Win7” driver, neither of them had the freezing problem, but there was also no USB functionality on any of the ports. This only happens when I have the modified Microsoft XHCI driver loaded into the image, if I remove it, the installer continues on like normal, but of course there’s no USB functionality. The problem I’m having, is when the setup starts loading, it will freeze in the middle of the Windows logo loading animation. I started with the unmodified Windows 7 Professional 圆4 SP1 and added in KB3033929, KB2864202, KB2990941, KB3087873, along with the “System Device” drivers found in “AMD_AM4_X399_TRX40_Drivers_B6_Win7_8.1_SHA256.7z” from the original post, and the modified Microsoft XHCI driver mentioned in post #422 of this thread into boot.win and install.win. Hello, I recently got the ASUS Maximus Crosshair VIII Hero X570 (5600x cpu) (non-wifi) and I’m having trouble getting my Windows 7 install to work properly.
